Six Western Oregon Seasonal Campgrounds Open Friday

Discounted state park Discovery Season rates, usually $4 off summer rates, will be in effect until April 30.

Detroit Lake
Detroit Lake, 50 miles east of Salem on Highway 22, opens it's seasonal campground on Friday.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Campers REJOICE! Friday is the opening day for camping at six western Oregon state parks with campgrounds on seasonal schedules.

Three of the parks are in the Columbia River Gorge:

  • Ainsworth, on the Historic Columbia River Highway 18 miles east of Troutdale
  • Memaloose, on I-84, 11 miles west of The Dalles off I-84
  • Viento, on I-84, eight miles west of Hood River

The others are:

  • Milo McIver, on the Clackamas River off Highway 211, four miles east of Estacada
  • Detroit Lake, 50 miles east of Salem on Highway 22
  • Beachside, on the Oregon coast, four miles south of Waldport

Ainsworth, Memaloose and Detroit have full hookups (sewer, electrical and water) for RVs. Viento, Milo McIver and Beachside have sites with electrical and water hookups. All except Ainsworth and Viento accept reservations through Reservations Northwest (1-800-452-5687) or online through www.oregonstateparks.org.

Discounted state park Discovery Season rates, usually $4 off summer rates, will be in effect until April 30.
