(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem police yesterday arrested a 5th grade student at Harritt Elementary School for leaving a threatening note on a bathroom wall at the school.

Police said a student found the note on Monday and reported it to school staff. The school resource officer began an investigation and arrested the 11-year-old male student, who was later referred to the Polk County Juvenile Department on charges of Disorderly Conduct in the First Degree.

Police said that there is no indication that the threat was a viable one, nor had the student taken any substantial measures to carry out the threat.
