Mar-05-2011 20:09TweetFollow @OregonNews American Idol & HOLLY to HOLLYwood! (ESPAÑOL)CoCo McCain Salem-News.comWelcome to “The Good Stuff” where we shine a light on the good things that happen every single day!
(CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.) - By now we’ve all heard the heartwarming story of “American Idol superstar” Lauren Alaina and her cousin Holly! Holly is a cancer survivor and Lauren’s constant source of encouragement and strength. Early on, it was Holly that taught Lauren to sing and taught her how to choose songs that would perfectly accent her natural, God-given talent! Lauren and her mom are in Hollywood right now compliments of American Idol, but now it is our chance to send Holly to Hollywood to cheer Lauren on! Last night (March 5th) at the American Legion in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, an All-American grass roots fundraising party was held to help send Lauren’s family to Hollywood. About 100 close family and friends gathered to help show support for this salt-of-the-earth family. The benefit was complete with a giant cake with Lauren’s picture, as well as “VOTE for Lauren” t-shirts and buttons! The evening was a great encouragement to the family and the benefit raised some of the funds needed to help send Lauren’s family to Hollywood. The evening was wonderful in every way, but Hollywood is pricey and there is still time to help meet this family’s need if you are so inclined! Holly and her mom are still trying to make it to Hollywood to see Lauren perform. They would love to make it to this week’s performance, which means they will need to fly out to California on March 7th or 8th! If you would like to help with food, lodging or airfare … then Holly and her mom will be on there way to Cali! To join the American Idol fun and help “Send Holly to Hollywood,” here’s how you can help: On-line Donations may be made at www.CoCoMcCain.com by going to the “SHOP” tab and selecting the “Send HOLLY to HOLLYWOOD” item in the lovely goods shopping cart (100% of these donations will benefit Holly and her family). If your company can help in another way, please email us at TheGoodStuff@CoCoMcCain.com. Our hearts are with Lauren and her family during this exciting time! Holly and Lauren, we are grateful to you both for showing us that all things really are possible!
