(Salem) - In the darkest hours of the Bush Administration there were those with vision who saw that Bush's mishandling of the Office of President and the nation as a whole would bring collapse to the Republican Party. Even so these futurists could little predict the depth to which he would body-slam his party -- not even the almighty Ron Paul despite his visionary vision of the collapse of the world financial bubble and (need we be reminded?) the discovery of Atlantis at the bottom of Lake Michigan -- which will be revealed at length when global warming reduces the mighty fresh water body to a mud hole the size of a child's swimming pool. With the collapse of capitalism, the destruction of our banking system, the extinction of bookstores and the miniaturization of hand held newspapers we have to wonder what kind of world are we witnessing the birth of? Will it be just as fun as the 1960's? We could do better. Chris: See my comment on Tim's report re S-N development. What you abuse you change or lose...if arrogance misleads you it simply happens faster for you in any channel. To term Lincoln "atheist" is prime example;history shows clearly otherwise, as do his recorded actions, far mor solid proof by doing than we have ever seen here from you et al. Democracy demands both solid information and heartfelt work by its participants; pandering to swept-away, failed politics of any stripe only multiplies massively malign intent of a few to capture control of the many. Re SERFDOM, happens I know from DC sources Pres. O. well aware and familiar with Hayek concepts, now over 80 years old from Austrian background, based on world-as-it-was. His UChicagocolleague Milton Friedman, in noted near-death statement, admitted horrendous error, stated: "We're all Keynesians now !" That ought to put hole in bottom of your flimsy personal-belief boat. Glen is right to seek truth re your schooling, home or otherwise...You are either uninformed, misinformed, or one of maligners mentioned.

ChrisJones, I have no idea what you're talking about, but it's way surreal and likely to find its way into a dialog balloon in a future Benny and Sid. The cluster adjectives "nearly criminally negligently 'ignorant' ways..." is debilitating. Please tell me you were home-schooled.

I bet if our founding white fathers would've been black mothers, and wrote the constitution the same word for word the neodems would take it for gospel, instead of condescendingly disrespecting the supreme blueprint for this country with equal intensity of the neocons. Both sides just do what they want. Sometimes it suits them to follow the constitution, sometimes it doesn't. Kinda like how the atheist lincoln would quote bible verse for political effect.

Rush is a dueche but the enemy of my enemy (ideologically only not personally) is my friend in certain situations. I heard on the lew rockwell blog that rush was quoting hayek. If only our president would read THE ROAD TO SERFDOM he would see the err in his nearly criminally negligently "ignorant" ways with this country's finances. I'm glad obama won because his loss would have silenced the opposition from the most loudest bold personalities. (those on the right along with the libertarians) Everyone except the communist lefties and the libertarians (who could never unite due to the fundamental differences in ideology) would have been silent if mccain won and carried out the same policies. (which I believe he would have) I estimate it at about a 50/50 split between the socialists and the constitution defenders. Liberty is peaceful by definition. Bringing in socialism (which always leads to communism) will be a bloody undertaking with almost half of the population (count me in) kicking and screaming the whole way. That's what the communist red stands for though, blood. That's what it's really all about to them.
Editor: The United States is and has been for many years in part, a Socialist country. I would not word it that way, but since that is the term being bantered I have no problem with it. Social Security, which allows seniors quite literally to live and eat, was created by the American Soclalist Party. Something tells me that Chris's comment about how Socialism: "which always leads to communism" just is not true; it hasn't happened here. What I see in the ranks of those who have a problem with progressive, modern politics is that they will say anything to get a rise out of people and they, like this poster, are extremely paranoid. I suggest having a little faith and letting the nation take its course. Those who don't like Obama's politics however at least have the option of moving to another country.
