(Salem) - Marion County has re-established a Weed Control District to reduce the spread of noxious weeds which can be harmful to agriculture, livestock and the environment. Those interested in assisting with development of the education, outreach and enforcement programs of the district are invited to apply for two at-large positions and one urban position on the associated advisory committee which is being formed. At-large members may live in any part of the county while the urban member must live in one of the incorporated cities in the county. Representatives from the resource community, industry, Oregonians for Food and Shelter, and the Small Woodlot Association are also being sought to serve on the nine-member committee. Members, who will be appointed to four-year terms, must be at least 18 years old and residents of Marion County. The Weed Control Advisory Committee is expected to meet monthly. Applications should be submitted by 5 PM Friday, April 7. Forms are available at the Marion County Business Services Department, 555 Court St. NE, Salem, OR 97309-5036.
