(Keizer) - Units of the Keizer Fire District responded to the report of a house fire shortly after 9:00 pm on Wednesday Nobody was hurt in a Keizer house fire at 1137 Ring St. NE Wednesday that broke out around 9:00 PM. The family`s pets were also recovered safely. Keizer Fire Spokesman Jim Trett says the home is owned and occupied by Kathie Foreman and her two children, Andrea and Rob Foreman, Rob Foreman told investigators that he came into the house after being in the garage and smelled smoke. `When he opened the bedroom door of his sister room he observed flames and smoke. He called 9-1-1 and he and his mother left the home. They then tried to spray water from a garden hose through the bedroom window." After reaching the scene, firefighters found a large amount of smoke throughout the single-family residence and a small fire in the back bedroom. Trett says fire crews extinguished the fire very quickly. After the fire was extinguished, firefighters helped the Foreman`s collect several cats and a dog that were the family`s pets. Fire Marshal Joel Stein determined that a curtain ignited after it had fallen onto a light bulb in a lamp that had been left on in the bedroom. Damage to the residence was estimated at $2,000.00 and damage to the contents of the home was estimated at $500.00. No injuries were reported in the incident.
