(SALEM) - A record attendance of over 2,000 people came to the Hot Rod show on State Street which kicked off early Saturday morning and kept people “oohing and ahhhing” through the afternoon.

The kid-friendly event included a monster truck, a bounce house, face painting and games. It was all in commemoration of Adam's Rib Smokehouse's 10th Anniversary, a party that began on Friday.

Yes, that was all the commotion.

New to Adam's Rib Smokehouse is the addition of the “Tap Room”, one of Salem's largest selections of local Micro-Brews, featuring 12 on tap and over 35 bottled micro-brews.

The rotating taps include Gilgamesh, 7 Brides, Oakshire, Rusty Truck, Fort George, Base Camp, Boneyard, Burnside, Good Life, Two Beers, Kona, Elysian, Widmer and more. The anniversary party was a perfect opportunity to introduce these new offerings to the public.

After 3 pm, a $5 cover charge was the entry fee for the back lot party with live music and a beer garden. Hundreds rocked the night away both Friday and Saturday. It was a small price for a large show. (Proceeds of the car show go to South East Salem Community Center.)

Gusto Brothers kicked off the Saturday show with Last Minute taking the stage thereafter, followed by Phamous Phaces; Ray Beltran & BlueMax opened on Friday night, and Ty Curtis performed to a packed house.

Katrina Adams welcomes the crowd.

The crowd was enthusiastic and very proud of the establishment and it's owners.

Many Salemites recall the first Adam's Rib location, on Market Street. There they created a reputation, a clientele, and began the accumulation of awards for their stellar BBQ rib recipes. They have built a thriving business, having been voted the “Best BBQ Ribs” year after year.

If you are from Salem, or just spent some time in Oregon's capitol city, it's a good bet you've been to Adam's Rib. The mouth-watering aroma is enough to draw you to their door.

“It's a family business,” said one attendee, “I'm just so glad to see them succeed. They're a big asset to our community.”

Katrina and Mike Adams have had many ups and downs through this first decade, but the experiences have helped them grow into the business owners they are today.

“All the cleaning, painting and praying over the business, God has abundantly blessed us. We are so thankful that we get to wake up each day and do something we love, work alongside with each other and our children, and have the opportunity to give back to the community,” said Katrina Adams.

“We truly appreciate all our customers who come in day after day, and yes, we call them our friends.”

Their friends showed up in the hundreds to show their mutual admiration, and to take part in the historic celebration.
Adam's Rib Smokehouse is located at 1210 State St, Salem, OR.
