Bi-planes Galore! Oregon Aviation Historical Society brings vintage aircraft to Cottage Grove

(COTTAGE GROVE, Ore.) - Hear the roar of the engines, watch the aircraft soar, and maybe even take a ride in a biplane!

The 37th Annual Jim Wright Memorial Stearman Fly-in will bring vintage aircraft from all directions to Cottage Grove on July 31 and August 1.

The public is invited free of charge to view the aircraft, talk to the pilots, and tour the History Center. Saturday is the best day to come out and see these vintage beauties.

Weather permitting, we expect between 25 and 30 open cockpit biplanes and other vintage aircraft. Biplane rides by Nostalgic Warbird & Biplane Rides will be available for purchase.

If you’ve never ridden in an open cockpit plane before, it’s a real treat! Food and drink will also be available on site.

Restorations in progress at the Oregon Aviation Historical Society include the 1931 Great Lakes 2T-1A by barnstormer Tex Rankin, an open cockpit biplane that will be fully restored and flying by summer 2016.
