Can We Afford Another Al-Bashir, in the South?

Kiir Mayradit is a criminal, he takes advantage of his people and does not allow democracy to flourish, his lack of honor will bring war to our nation when we need peace.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - At great risk to myself and those close to me that are still in Sudan, I have written this letter to bring awareness of what is happening inside the South Sudanese government.

I have already received threatening emails and several friends have been telephoned by those inside the government, in an effort to intimidate.

My belief is the Private Secretary of President Kir is calling and writing emails to pressure me into silence and those, that are strong in their resistance to the tyranny that is President Kiir.

In the South, Sudanese have nothing to eat; Salva Kiir doesn't care about those who are struggling with poverty after they lost their family members in Civil War. We are going to suffer under Kiir leadership. He has brought too much hate amongst Dinka themselves.

This time South Sudanese must force him out by any means necessary in order for South Sudan not to go through Genocide. I believe war will ensue as a result of both the recent fraudulent elections and after the referendum.

South Sudanese must now stand up in unity to change this blinded leader, the urgency is imminent, otherwise we are going to suffer forever.

He is giving our rights away to extremists and dictators. There is a lack of food to eat, no education for our children and neither school nor hospital they can go.

We Dinka Aweil, who have been marginalization under his leadership will not be silent, we will not be used any longer as a weapon to increase fear in other innocent minority tribes in the South.

For too long, the Dinka have been enslaved by poverty that Salva Kiir has promised to changed. Our children allowed to be taken and sold to the North, the truths must come out. Who is the real enemy of our South Sudanese people?

Salva Kiir is trying to divide us further so that conflicts can enflame and arise and we continue to suffer. Without services we will be dependent on his government, this must stop.

We Aweil Dinka are not going to accept slavery by anyone, we refused physical slavery and economic slavery we demand our government begin to recognize our citizens and form a democracy that will benefit all.

My Aweil Brothers and Sisters and I, we call upon the Shilluk Community, the entire Equatoian Communities, and the Nuer Community to reject the ideology of both the extreme Islamists and those that beleive "they were born to rule.” Salva Kiir Mayradit is a criminal, he takes advantage of his people and does not allow democracy to flourish, his lack of honor will bring war to our nation when we need peace. Peace will come with justice but not with Salva Kiir.

As President Franklin Roosevelt said "there is nothing to fear but fear itself.”

Dear Benedict Killang thank you so much with your comments and I apperciate your opinion. I don't believe you have an idea at all about what is going on in the South Sudan right now. I woould not blamed you or condemned you because it's your democracit rights to say what you like, but I will to tell you I am not giving up or giving in the rights of my people to anyone who I see to be a threat. We fought Arab and Islamic Regime for the same case and will take us to force Kiir Mayradit out by any mean neccassry.

Brother your article is out of touch. Mind you the South Sudanese have been suffering from all kinds of inflictions since before the coming of the President of South Sudan to power. If you don't mind give a contrast supporting your statement. The hate among the Dinka Aweil should not be a reason other tribes should reject and disrespect the seating president of South Sudan. You better seek the solution of Dinka Aweil problems among yourselves. All the tribes in the South have their own problems but took into their responsibility in addressing them without involving nor blaming nor inciting anybody. Our common enemy is the NCP and the successive regimes in Khartoum. You better find or research things before uttering otherwise it hurts your reasoning capability. Secondly your writing has never indicated any alternative after inciting hatred and violence. As of now the people of South Sudan needs constructive criticism not a mere and baseless critics. The government of South Sudan needs you and all of us in giving alternatives and viable solutions in serving our people. I am not denaying the problems our people and government is going through but we needed to understand why some of these problems before judging or incitng hatred. You can reach me at: herkick@yahoo.com. Your view point is respected but ite meaningless and baseless. Its inciting hatred and violence at a very critical moment where unity of South Sudanese is important as we approach the 2011 referendum.

If you are a human right activist, then calling for violence to remove president is a dumb way of doing thing. You don't have to call on certain tribes to reject the president. Call on the general population but do not use the word by any means. Thing about the general picture of the whole south Sudan not Dinka Awiel. Dinka Awiel might have been marginalized among the Bhar el Ghazal but there are many other people who are marginalized to but do not call on people to use any possible means to remove the president. You should really check your words.

An article that has the right tone and intent.

We should respect president Kiir at the moment because he is holding our oil in his two hands. Let us not shake him for he will fall down and we will lost our target. My warmly greeting to you sir Deng I am neither a politician nor a relative to Kiir, or relying on him. I am just a poor University Student. I thoroughly read your article titled Can we afford another Al-Bashir in South? and I absolute discover your point of view. You are fully patriotism and that is what the nation need at the moment special uncovered nation like South Sudan. The time we are in now is between two pillars either we will be losers forever or benefiters forever through the channel of referendum which will be soon schedule, just few months to happen. So let us not mess up the current government of Kiir, it just remain days for South Sudan to be called a new born country in Africa continent, after all you will exercise your views of changing Kiir with any one who is capable to the post. May be he by himself will resign from his post after Independent. We know that, exactly Awiel People are suffered from Arab nomads since the rail-way line constructed to cross Awiel territory up to Wau. Let us collaborate together as one tribe South Sudan to win our want {independent of South Sudan} Every one will have a chance to lead his/her people the way he/she clarified well. Let us take a nano for another short patience. You absolutely right but try to swallow one hand full of patience and hope Your compatriot Maker Bona Nyang You can reach me @ makerbona@ymail.com BBA student @ CANADIAN SUDANESE COLLEGE IN KHARTOUM.
