Salem Woman Killed in Single Vehicle Accident

Police say they were no signs of alcohol and the victim was not wearing a seat belt.

(SCIO, Ore. ) - Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller reports that his deputies are investigating a fatal single vehicle motor vehicle crash that occurred Friday morning at approximately 5:30 A.M.

The crash happened on Stayton-Scio Drive near River Road which is about 7 miles Northeast of Scio.

The vehicle involved was a 2003 Cadillac Escalade which was operated by 51-year-old Terri Welfringer from Salem.

She was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.

The initial investigation by the deputies on scene, indicate Welfringer was southbound on Stayton-Scio Drive when she crossed the oncoming lane and after leaving the roadway, rolled and crashed into a tree.

Welfringer was transported to Santiam Memorial Hospital in Stayton where she died a short time later.

Weddle's Funeral Home from Stayton is handling the arrangements.

There were no signs of alcohol and Welfringer was not wearing a seat belt.

The investigation is continuing.
