(SALEM) - A celebration of life will take place this afternoon for 20-year old Anthony K. Jimenez, of McMinnville, who died June 30, 2013, as the result of a drowning accident at the Donkey Ponds, a favorite local swimming spot. Anthony was born May 22,1993, in Portland, Oregon. He is survived by his father, Abel “Kino” Jimenez; his mother, Danyelle Lopez; his brothers, Steven, Cruscito and Isaiah; two sisters, Sabrina and Sienna; and his young daughter, Brooklyn. He also leaves behind a girlfriend, Tavia Surratt, and a large extended family in the Dayton/McMinnville area. “He was also very soft and emotional at times. He would always make you laugh.” Anthony will be remembered by the love he showed others, and the joy he got out of life. There is an account at Bank of America for those that would like to donate on behalf of Anthony, under his name. Family and friends hosted a car wash and bake sale in McMinnville on July 7th, raising over $2000 to offset expenses. “It’s a blessing to know how much love there is out there. On behalf of my family, thank you all, for giving and supporting our family in our time of need. God Bless you all,” said Maria Gutierrez. “There was a wonderful turn out,” said Alicia Gutierrez. “Every one has really come out to help in this tragic time. His parents especially appreciate the love and support.” The Celebration Gathering is Friday, July 12, 2013, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the west side of Wortman Park, next to DMV. It is a potluck and BBQ event, so bring your place settings, a food dish or two, and extra chairs if possible. Anthony K.
