Two Oregon Highways CLOSED Due to Incidents

UPDATE: U.S. 20, Santiam Highway, is now open. However, traffic is backed up and long delays should be expected.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Motorist traveling, or preparing to leave the Willamette Valley in the coming hour should BE AWARE! of two incidents that are currently backing up traffic and causing delays.

U.S. 20, Santiam Highway is completely blocked by a vehicle fire one mile west of Santiam Pass Summit. There is no detour and traffic is backing up quickly according to ODOT. Motorists should avoid the area if possible. No word yet on when the highway will re-open.

UPDATE: Two-way travel has been restored, however congestion should be expected until the traffic flow can return to normal.

Oregon highway 58, Willamette Highway, remains blocked approximately six miles east of Pleasant Hill after a double tanker truck, carrying more than 10,000 gallons of diesel and gasoline overturned.

A detour is in place using Dexter Road. The highway is expected to remain blocked until 5:00 p.m. or as late as 7:00 p.m. as crews off-load the fuel before righting and removing the truck and trailers.

Motorists should anticipate delays while taking the detour.
