Blaze in Salem Sends Firefighter to Hospital

With all its stored lumber, glues, sawdust, and machines, there was plenty to catch fire and burn.

(SALEM) - A three alarm fire in Salem was initially reported at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

A number of fire units responded, including two ladder trucks, several fire engines and two medics.

Crews were still on scene battling the blaze at 1:00 a.m., it was still burning hard.

Firefighters were still tending to hot spots today.

One firefighter was injured and transported to the hospital, condition unknown.

The bank behind the building presented a special challenge in the fight to contain a completely involved, very large cabinet shop.
