Willamette Valley Firefighter Killed While Kite Surfing on Oregon CoastSalem-News.com Staff
The victim is identified as 49-year-old Wylie Dale Johnson Jr., from Dundee. According to TVFR, Johnson was a firefighter for 19 years with TVFR.
(LINCOLN CITY, Ore. ) - The Oregon State Police is investigating the death of a 49-year-old firefighter from the Willamette Valley in Lincoln City, Oregon.
Lincoln City Police and fire crews were dispatched Thursday afternoon, to the beach at Roads End State Park. The victim was apparently kite-surfing in the cool waters of the Pacific Ocean when the accident occurred.
Oregon State Police were notified by the Lincoln City Hospital that the man, who police and fire crews tried to save on the beach using all lifesaving measures possible, died shortly after his arrival to the hospital.
The man's name has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
Oregon State Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the man's death.
