Salem Man Kills His Brother After Altercation

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem-News.com was the first on the scene and to report that Salem Police were investigating a fatal stabbing in the 4700 block of Niles Ave NE Thursday afternoon.

Salem Police say 58-year old Larry Bush of Salem was stabbed by his brother, 50-year-old Jon Bush after an altercation just before 4:00 p.m.

One witness told Salem-News.com that Salem police officers and Salem firefighters tried valiantly to save the victim by performing CPR and rendering other medical aid, but they were not successful.

Another local resident, Bryan Plate, said drug activity is very common in the neighborhood, and on more than one occasion while walking his dog in a nearby field, he has found used drug paraphernalia. He and his wife fell on hard times and this was the only area in Salem they could afford, and they are working very hard to get out of that neighborhood.

Salem Police have not yet said if drugs played any role leading up to the deadly attack. An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.

Jon Bush was arrested and charged with Murder and lodged in the Marion County Correctional Facility.

Larry Bush was a sick pedophile who deserved what he got!! Look at his background before for you say he is a "God loving" and "kind loving spirit". I knew who the real Larry Bush was, he went to church regularly and hid behind his religion while he repeatedly molested a member of his family!! He abused the trust that was given to him and caused severe emotional and mental pain in a young child- probably more than one, because pedophiles never only have one victim! May he rot in hell!!! Justice was served!

Thank you to those who have compassion and are saying prayers for this family. It is a tragedy. John loved his brother and had it not been for drugs.... Larry Bush was a kind loving spirit. Just because he lived in that area does not mean he was on drugs, because he was not. I cannot stand that people who do not know either of them have so much to say. I hope people will learn from the mistakes of others. Drugs destroy families. Drugs can take someone who loves his brother and turn him into his killer. When will people learn. Please if you are reading this and are doing drugs, get help.. Get off drugs and live life. Please.

I know Jon and a few of the other family members. Speculation is not necessary or helpful at this time. What is most needed is support for ALL the family. I cannot even imagine the pain that everyone, including Jon, must be feeling. My heart goes out to this family. Could you imagine the possibility,the guilt,the heart rending pain, of causing fatal injury to your own loved one ? Such a tradgedy for both sides involved.

Nice to see a story with VIDEO from our own backyard of Salem. While this is a sad story, drugs are a problem no matter where one lives, but having the goal of getting out of a problem area is a good one to have.

You who have something to say about this that know nothing about it need to shut up. You live in this neighborhood also so don't act like your so much better. Larry Bush was a God Loving man who did not deserve to be killed regardless of where he lives. Yes Drugs was most likely an issue and they are a problem, but they are a problem everywhere. Not just in a less financially rich area of Salem.

Living in this area, I'm not at all surprised this happened. I did not know the two men involved, but drugs run through this part of Salem all the time. This area is not where the "rich" or even "lower middle class" live, it is where those of us who have struggled with lost jobs and other problems end up. This is a really sad way to start the 4th of July. I too hope that with a new job, I can move out of this area soon as well. I think I saw this same video on Fox-12 last night? If so, great job for you all.
