Oregon Man Faces Sex Abuse Allegations Stemming from MySpace

The 20-year-old is suspected of targeting underage girls in Wilsonville.

Oregon suspect Kyle Green
Kyle Green

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office announces the arrest of a 20-year old Wilsonville man for what Spokesman Jim Strovink describes as "an assortment of crimes involving at least two young girls between the ages of 15 and 17."

Kyle James Green is believed to have befriended underage girls on the internet using MySpace, in public libraries and through introductions from acquaintances according to Strovink.

"It is these underage girls Green is suspected of targeting for his specific crimes."

Investigators are concerned additional victims may exist and are encouraging potential victims to come forward with any information pertaining to Green, who is reported to be unemployed, and the resident of an apartment located next to Wilsonville High School.

This apartment complex is identified as the Boulder Creek Apartments at 28830 SW Ashland Drive in Wilsonville. Kyle Green rents unit number 293 in this Boulder Creek apartment complex.

He is also known to own and operate an older model red Jeep, Cherokee.

Prior to moving to the Wilsonville area in early 2007 Green was a resident in Oregon City.

Without offering details, investigators say additional victims are providing information and more criminal cases are expected to be submitted to the Clackamas County District Attorney in the very near future. Kyle Green was arrested June 25th by Clackamas County Sheriff's Office investigators and lodged in the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Jail, for the related charges identified as:

  • Rape 3
  • Sodomy 3
  • Sexual Abuse 1
  • Sexual Abuse 3
  • Contributing to Sexual Delinquency Of a Minor
  • Sexual Abuse 1
  • Rape 3

Total bail is set at $250,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for this matter on July 3rd, 2007, in the Clackamas County Circuit Court in Oregon City.

It is important to point out that in Oregon, the crime of "Rape 3" is often not indicative of forcible sex. Oregon lawmakers decided a number of years ago to categorize any sex act between a minor and an adult as "rape" whether or not force was used.

The theory behind the wording is that no person under the age of 18 has the ability to provide legal consent. In many other states, the age of consent is 16 or even lower.

If Oregon were to reclassify the act of consensual sex between an adult and a minor as "statutory rape" then a good deal of confusion would thus be eliminated, and proper emphasis would again be placed on the word "rape" as a sexual act that involves violence or force.

Also, the crime of "Sodomy" in Oregon relates to any sexual act that is not intercourse. Again sodomy is a reference for anal sex, but Oregon and many other states in this event, choose the word "sodomy" to describe oral and other types of sexual contact.

Police hope that anyone with information related to Kyle James Green are encouraged to contact Detective Christie Fryett, at 503-557-2876 – reference CCSO case number 07-20778.

you 'friends' or 'aquaintences' of kyle obviously didnt get to know him well enough to know he had this coming, it was only a matter of time. i met him beginning of high school and was a couple years younger. we were pretty good friends for a year or two but he started trying sexual advances, kissing/licking my ear in class, trying to put his hand down the front/back of my pants in class, etc... That kind of thing continued even more if we hung out outside of school. I quickly stopped being friends with him because it made me extremely uncomfortable and didnt matter what i said to him, he wouldnt stop. After I repeatedly told him to stop with no luck, I had no choice but to go to school officials who immediately brought the police over. From there, there was a restraining order, to which he would continue to yell obscene/rude things down the hall way/across class at school. Then slowly, more and more girls started sharing these kinds of stories. And I believe every one of them. Obviously some of them are probably more case worthy than others, but either way, hes done this kind of stuff enough times to deserve to pay a little. Its not like he has the death sentence. He'll get over it, get out, serve his time, and hopefully learn his lesson. If he doesnt, i hope he lands right back in jail. Its too bad though. He had a lot of potential to be a good person/awesome friend.

hhhh July 8, 2009 10:15 pm (Pacific time)

i really dont think that kyle would ever do such a thing. it was just a whole bunch of girls who got mad, and wanted to get back. but what they dont understand is they just ruined his whole life!!!!! little girls really just need to grow up!!

Anonymous September 14, 2008 2:33 pm (Pacific time)

no name June 19, 2008 1:51 pm (Pacific time)

or this y dont we find someone to love and have sex with our OWN AGE!!! ya bunch of losers prayin on younger adults. I mean someone who is say 60 shouldnt be with an 18 year old its immoral, even though its legal though there is alot of things wrong with that

Anonymous June 19, 2008 2:01 pm (Pacific time)

how about we find someone who is OUR OWN AGE not 50 year olds with a 15 year old, because back then it was ok.... not anymore its immoral and there are plenty things wrong with any age differnce. but i too knew kyle when i lived in OC... young kids these days are getting younger and younger while experimenting with drugs, beer, and sex. nothing anyone can do to stop it but let them make up for thier own DUMBASS desicions...make them learn RESPONSIBLY and for when they are older u know kyle made a bad mistake wether or not he knew those girls's age by hanging or talking to them and im pretty sure he didnt come to them

Happy-Camper May 5, 2008 6:34 am (Pacific time)

Done deal. Kyle was convicted of 5 Rape in the 1st degree charges. Yup, thats right, sicko boy used force on 5 different girls, and then commited abuse as well, of course Mr "I'm European" probably thinks fondling 12-14 year olds if fine too. O, BTW, some 20+ different girls came forward with story of abuse and worse by this sicko. They just chose the ones with the strongest cases. The world is now a better place.

Anonymous April 25, 2008 10:14 pm (Pacific time)

Hey, here's a thought to all you people saying "if it were your daughter..." Get a f*ing grip! If your daughter wants to have sex, guess what, SHE WILL!!! You should consider yourselves lucky if she's not afraid to ask for birth control. Get over the fact that your "little angel" is having adult desires. That just the way the world is, so deal with it and educate them instead of looking for a scapegoat to their actions. The even stupider thing is that if it was consensual, then it should be thrown out. Period. RAPE implies a violent, forced act, and thats clearly not the case here. This is just teenage girls not willing to say no, therefor, CONSENSUAL, and a guy who made a bad choice.

pistol pete September 9, 2007 8:25 pm (Pacific time)

damn he got caught up son ive chilled wit him be4 hes alright with me

J July 17, 2007 12:30 am (Pacific time)

This is stupid as hell, the laws need to be changed. The kid was 20, big deal. My Gramps married my grandmother when she was like 15, and he was 35.

Loic July 9, 2007 5:40 pm (Pacific time)

Hey you stupid bunch of republican Americans! That is right, put a 20 old guy in jail for having sex with a 16 year old girl, but go ahead and bomb countries you know nothing about! So you stupid bunch of uneducated right wing religious idiots, I have something for you now you can have fun with: When I was 28 I had a 16 year old girl friend! :-) But ya know what I live in Europe, I loved her and we don't go bomb coutries just for their oil. Go out and get the real criminals, your president and his "Dick" minister! And let this 20 year old dude go out with some 16 year old if they both fancy it. By the way, I am on Myspace too! Funny how I landed here. Ihr seid sooo blöde!! ;-)

Bullwinkles isn't an adult establishment?

Rocky and Bullwinkle July 6, 2007 1:52 pm (Pacific time)

I worked with him at bullwinkles and we had a name for him...creepy kyle...in fact he got fired for hitting on underage girls! He should be in jail to learn to not take advantage of someone that age...

Jane July 3, 2007 4:12 pm (Pacific time)

This is absolutely disghusting - he is legally an adult and he knows better. Those fighting for his release- get a grip! If this was your daughter the tables would be turned. Let him pay his time - I know for a fact that he is a total pervert. Sorry for his family but not sorry for what is happening to him.

anonymus July 3, 2007 12:58 pm (Pacific time)

Charley the Tuna July 3, 2007 12:30 pm (Pacific time)

Eliminate him from the gene pool ASAP!

chubsoda July 3, 2007 7:24 am (Pacific time)

He's 20, big deal. When I was 20 I had a 16 year old girlfriend. It wasn't wrong then and it's not wrong now. But it's PC to go after these kids today that the cops are having a field day and it's pathetic. I highly doubt he raped any of them. Let these kids have fun and have a life; adulthood comes too soon.

Anonymous July 3, 2007 3:08 am (Pacific time)

No no, I've known Kyle and his family for a number of years. The guy is a creep and the only place that he belongs is behind bars. Have fun Kyle.

SafeLibraries July 2, 2007 8:17 pm (Pacific time)

The story evidences more of the same, until people force libraries to follow local standards instead of the standards of the American Library Association in defiance of the law. See http://www.SafeLibraries.org/ . Remember, Oregon is the home of a Democrat who in 2006 lost his political race in part when it was revealed he adhered to ALA policy instead of local community policy. For that story, see: http://www.safelibraries.org/valuevoters.htm

California Dreaming July 2, 2007 3:23 pm (Pacific time)

Oregon is the backwoods of America- they pursue sex offenders out of context of their actual crimes constantly. The reporter is completely right, Oregon laws have to be explained because they are unique and confusing and frankly, poorly constructed. Remember, this is the state that used to be a trendsetter? Looks like it still is, only today it is about being the most progressively ridiculous state when it comes to vilifying people.

Justin July 2, 2007 12:57 pm (Pacific time)

FREE KYLE GREEN! Seriously. I was fifteen not that long ago. If you aren't smart enough to say yes or no at that point, you never will be.

Mike July 2, 2007 12:49 pm (Pacific time)

Is this going to affect his show Kyle XY?

Fifteen years old will get you seven July 2, 2007 12:31 pm (Pacific time)

You may not think it is rape, but Oregon law says it is. It doesn't matter if she said it was "okay." She can't because of her age. That's why it is Rape II and Rape III. Have a good time in prison!

Waiting for his Release July 2, 2007 11:45 am (Pacific time)

I personally know Kyle Green and I know he is innocent. The press release is not up to date. As of Friday June 29th, Kyle only 2 charges Rape III and Sex Abuse I. I believe that this man is innocent and I hope these young girls open their eyes and realize what they are doing to Kyle's life. He is an amazing person and deserves so much better than this!

chris July 2, 2007 11:34 am (Pacific time)

Wow! What's with you people? Luckily, I don't live up there in hippie land where where people find it okay for a 20 year old to prey on a 15 year old.

Shannon Is Hawt July 2, 2007 11:23 am (Pacific time)

He's "cute"? Wow.

Shannon July 2, 2007 8:54 am (Pacific time)

C'mon. The girls were between 15 an 17. Hes a cute guy. When I was that age. I would've definetly liked him. He's getting screwed over. How about catchin them pedophiles that are REALLY doing harm out there hmmm?

Shadow July 2, 2007 8:12 am (Pacific time)

Mdoneil, Rape 3 is not a crime in 95 % of states. Since it carries the name "Rape" in it, which carries a heavy connotation, it should be clarified for the national audience. If you were from Pennsylvania and you heard "Rape 3" you would think the guy did some heavy duty crime when in reality he just had sex with a girl 3 years younger than him.

Sean July 2, 2007 3:24 am (Pacific time)

I think if he hasn't been convicted of anything yet then they shouldn't release his address. What if he turns out to be innocent? This, "journalist", has, ruined, this guy's, life. If he's guilty then he deserves no privacy but he is innocent until PROVEN guilty.

Mo July 2, 2007 2:29 am (Pacific time)

Agree with Ed. The reporters' personal opinions do not belong in a news article.

guyfromnz July 1, 2007 11:36 pm (Pacific time)

Could the author of this story, journalist, learn to properly use commas, punctuation, properly?

The Editor July 1, 2007 11:36 pm (Pacific time)

As a news reporter I have covered a story involving multiple sex crimes that a teacher committed against his middle school students. Because "rape" is used for every single sex act that was consensual, the fact that one of the young girls did not consent was lost in translation, so to speak. I just think that "statutory" defines more clearly what the crime is.

This is a press release that was sent out earlier and I apologize for not having gone over it better, the extra use of commas has been corrected.

It is not illegal to name the residence of a suspect in a crime after that individual has been arrested and charged. We only list it in this event because the police are seeking more possible victims, and identifying the location can sometimes help.

Sorry that my clarification of Oregon law is taken as editorializing, it just seems necessary to present the charges as possibly not having involved an actual act of rape.

Epland July 1, 2007 10:44 pm (Pacific time)

Isn't it illegal to announce information such as Address and other personal details like that if the person hasn't been convicted of anything? Also, way to put a thousand commas in the article. "Kyle James Green is believed to have befriended underage, female, girls on the internet using My space, in public libraries and through introductions from acquaintances according to Strovink." It makes it very incoherent.

Ed July 1, 2007 9:14 pm (Pacific time)

The sentence that begins with, "If Oregon were to reclassify..." is an editorial comment and should not be included in a news article.

Mdoneil July 1, 2007 8:29 pm (Pacific time)

Why is it important to point out that rape3 may not be a crime involving force? It is still a crime. If this guy committed these crimes he deserves to be punished.
