(DETROIT, Ore.) - Oregon State Police say Highway 20 is closed between Camp Sherman and Detroit due to slides in Santiam Pass area near mileposts 78 and 80. It is reported that the length of the closure is unknown at this time.

Highway 20 is also closed from mileposts 75 to 80 because of snow slides. Two separate slides at mileposts 78.7 and 79.4 occurred this morning about 6:30 AM. As in the case of the other slide and closure, there is no estimated time for reopening.

ODOT crews are placing signs now to advise motorists of the closure.

Oregon 126 is also closed to eastbound traffic at the Oregon 242 junction, east of McKenzie Bridge. This is a seasonal closure.

Transportation officials say motorists are advised to avoid traveling through the Cascade passes today because of expectations of heavy snowfall. Other conditional closures are possible if conditions worsen.
