Third Victim Identified in Triple Fatal Crash Near ElsieSalem-News.comInvestigating troopers advise conditions at the time of the crash were not icy and alcohol/drugs were not factors.
(ELSIE, Ore.) - Oregon State Police are continuing the investigation into Sunday afternoon's triple fatal traffic crash on Highway 26 east of Elsie. Next of kin notification has been completed on the third victim whose identity is now being released. They say the right rear female passenger in the 1999 Volkswagen Jetta is identified as 23-year old Carmen Edith Lopez of Gardena, California. Ms. Lopez, who was not using safety restraints, is the wife of critically injured passenger, 21-year old Miguel Angel Martinez-Butron. The driver, Florencio Martinez-Butron and Miguel Angel Martinez-Butron, were using safety restraints and were transported to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland. The driver received minor injuries. The right passenger was transported by LifeFlight with critical injuries. The people in the second vehicle, 34-year old Jamie M. Dallas of Portland, were reportedly transported to Legacy Emanuel Hospital. Remmers received minor injuries and Dallas received non-life threatening injuries. Investigating troopers advise conditions at the time of the crash were not icy and alcohol/drugs were not factors. Upon completion of the investigation, OSP troopers from the Astoria Area Command office will be forwarding the reports to the Clatsop County District Attorney's Office for review. No additional information related to the investigation to be released at this time.
