(SALEM, Ore.) - The Minister of the Interior, Silvan Shalom, who is also in charge of negotiations with the PA, secretly met his Palestinian counterpart in Jordan to overcome current obstacles in the peace talks. This meeting was held following Netanyahu's agreement with Mahmoud Abbas during a telephone call, according to the report. The following conversation between Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (Bibi) and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) marks the first time the two leaders have spoken in over a year. It is said that the following conversation call & covert talks were to be mediated by a senior EU officer. The talks were supposed to be held in Brussels but at the request of the Palestinian side, took place in Jordan. In this regard, Federica Mogherini, the European Union's foreign policy chief, during a meeting requested King Salman to play a constructive & executive role in peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. On the other hand, the EU Foreign Relations Committee attempted to establish an "international support group" to support talks between the Zionist Regime and Palestine. In the same field, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir during a telephone conversation with Mahmoud Abbas called for steps to remove obstacles facing peace talks and Mahmoud Abbas officially announced, "We also want to stop the intifada like you."
