(LONGVIEW, Wash.) - Officials say one home was damaged on Burcham Street in Kelso from a landslide today as floodwaters continue to create problems.

Pedestrians are being warned to avoid the Burcham Street slide area and to not go beyond the barricades. The 400 block of Burcham and the 1000 block of N 5th were evacuated.

All evacuees are being referred to the New Life Fellowship Church, 2441 42nd, Longview.

The Kalama River Road area has new flooding reports; Meeker Drive is still flooded, there is water over road by the City of Kalama fairgrounds and water has risen up to the bank on Modrow Road.

The 6700 block of Kalama River Road near Little Kalama River Road is closed due to a 30 feet deep by 50 feet wide chasm in the road.

City of Kalama residents are asked to conserve water. This includes avoiding washing cars, clothes and other general water conservation items over the next few days, if possible.

Even though some water levels appear to be decreasing, officials say it is still important to be aware of the many hazards in the community.

Please be aware that roads, infrastructure, homes, and other facilities may only begin to show damage after waters recede. People should get the necessary rest and social support to stay alert to potential dangers.
