(Albany) - All women who served in the military are invited to register for the 2006 Oregon Women Veterans Conference. Organizers say this is an extremely important event for women veterans, because many remain unaware of numerous benefits they earned in the military that could be put to use. The conference, which is free, will be held on Thursday, March 23rd at the Linn County Expo Center in Albany. Events include guest speakers, Veterans service organization representatives, informational workshops, and a complimentary lunch. Registration starts at 8:00 AM and the event begins promptly at 9:00 AM. Robin Steckley with Oregon Veteran`s Affairs says the event is unique and important. `Primarily, it is important because of the opportunity. There just aren`t that many places where people can gather like this. Women veterans get together and it is very important to them because they aren`t always aware of what is out there when it comes to seeking out benefits." In the United States, many women were previously subjugated into military roles of lesser importance than they are today. It is time for all veterans to step forward and learn what benefits potentially await them. Steckley says the state Veteran`s Affairs agency`s conference last year resulted in women veterans receiving thousands of dollars in compensation or additional benefits. Reservations are required, and no childcare will be available. If you are a woman military veteran, please make arrangements and plan to attend. To register, call (800) 828-8801(in Oregon) ext. 2384; 2385; 2389 or (503) 373-2384. Articles for February 26, 2006 | Articles for February 27, 2006 | Articles for February 28, 2006 | Quick Links
