(SALEM, Ore.) - The Salem Police Department is seeking assistance in identifying the male driver and female passenger of a newer small black sport utility vehicle that was involved in a minor crash with a skateboard rider on Liberty St NE and Salem Parkway Thursday night, February 20th.

Salem Police Lt. Dave Okada says 18-year old Mark McMahan was riding his skateboard as he crossed Liberty Street at 10:15 PM. That is when a vehicle struck him as it was turning right from Liberty Street onto Salem Parkway.

The driver, described as a white male in his 20s or 30s with short blonde spiked hair and wearing a blue long sleeved shirt, stopped immediately after the accident.

The passenger in the vehicle is described as a white female in her 20s or 30s with dirty blonde straight hair parted in the middle and past her shoulders. She was wearing a green collared shirt with buttons halfway down, similar to a polo style shirt.

Once the vehicle stopped McMahan had a conversation with the driver and passenger and asked them to give him a ride to Towne and Country Bowl in Keizer where he knew some people. The people in the vehicle did give him a ride to the bowling alley and left, but McMahan did not get their names or any further information.

Okada says Salem Police are seeking assistance from the public in identifying the driver and passenger in the vehicle in order to complete the necessary investigation.

He urges the driver and/or passenger of the vehicle, or anybody else having any information pertinent to this accident to contact Corporal Don Parise at 503-589-2001, ext 11186.
