(SALEM) - Police say vandals with an apparent anti-war message damaged a sign at the Marine Corps Recruiting office in Salem late this week. A Marine Corps recruiter contacted the Marion Sheriff's Office Friday to report damage that had been done to the sign on the roof of the U.S. Marine Corps recruiting station at 3060 Lancaster Dr NE in Salem. Investigators believe that it happened some time between the evening of Wednesday, February 7th and Friday morning. The sign, a lighted sign of an American flag, had damage to the frame as well as the glass face. A homemade sign that said "Stop Illegal and Immoral War" had been put over the broken sign. A recruiter estimated the damage at between $200 and $300. The Sheriff's Office is investigating but there are no suspects at this time. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Marion County Sheriff's Office at 503-588-5032. O-tan and Sgt.T: Osotan insights shared here, too. Always find ignrnt bstrds ready to make big noise and big dirt but never take big risk out there "where they fly by...if you're lucky". Best to ignore such and glory in what we've got...so long as we can keep it.

to Gunnery Sgt. Trammel.,Semper Fi Gunnery Sgt.!, don't take this as a reflection of disrespect to the Corps or the individuals on the ground. I don't agree with the modis of damageing the flag or your facilities at all. If you are a thinking man you already know the lies that made this "war on terror" begin, and many "outside" the Corps do not realize the chain of command starts with the Commander in Chief.,not the Marine Corps or Gunnery Sgt. Trammel., or his office., and no blind patriotism intended to those who did this, but the flag is still the flag of our nation, and it is bigger than the administration who are now abusing it, so leave Old Glory out of it! Semper Fi Gunny! I hope you understand, they don't know, but mean well.,appology extended and I didn't have anything to do w/it.
