Sandy Murder Suspect Arrested After Returning to Scene of Crime

(SANDY, Ore.) - This morning at 5:50 a.m., Clackamas County Sheriff's Office investigators arrested the suspect believed responsible for the shooting death of 66-year old Vivian Faye Bighaus.

Michael Bighaus was apprehended without incident. Shortly before 6:00 a.m. this morning, Clackamas County Sheriff's deputies were conducting surveillance of the Bighaus residence – the crime scene -- at 56560 E. Fernwood Circle, in Sandy, according to Clackamas Sheriff's Office Spokesman Jim Strovink.

He says 41-year old Michael Scott Bighaus, the suspect wanted in connection with this investigation – returned to the scene of the crime.

"Bighaus was apprehended by investigators as he returned to his family residence and promptly challenged by Clackamas County deputies. Bighaus was described as compliant to the demands of deputies and arrested without further incident," Strovink said.

Bighaus was transported by Clackamas County Sheriff's Office investigators and is expected to be lodged soon in the Clackamas County Jail for the charge of murder.

The victim in the crime is the man's mother.

Strovink says there are no additional details available to report at this time.

Sheriff's Office investigators are expected to return to the crime scene on E. Fernwood Circle later in the day to continue with the furtherance of this criminal investigation.
