(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem Police heard reports from at least 41 people on the night of November 24th who had their vehicle tires slashed in the South Salem area.

Lt. Chuck Bennett with Salem Police says many of the victims lived along Fabry Rd SE, Woodside Dr SE, and Alvina St SE. The total damage suffered by these victims amounted to $9,743.

"Many of the victims had more than one tire slashed and one of the vehicles damaged was a Marion County Sheriff's department vehicle," Bennett added.

He says their investigation led to the arrests of two juveniles today, aged 14 and age 16. They are charged with Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, a class C Felony.

Bennett says probable cause for the arrest was developed through statements made by the two suspects. Both juveniles lived in the area of the crimes.

"No motive was identified and the victims were randomly selected as the suspects walked down the street. Both juvenile suspects have been in custody since their arrest on December 5th for Probation Violation warrants out of Marion County Circuit Court and runaway status." He added that the warrants were issued on November 26th 2007.

Anyone with further information about this case is asked to contact Detective Cpl. Mark Seyfried at 503-588-6050 ext. 7149.
