Fatal Hit & Run Pedestrian Crash Under Investigation

(GOLD BEACH, Ore.) - Oregon State Police, with the assistance of the Curry County Sheriff's Office, is investigating a fatal hit and run crash Monday morning that has left an unidentified adult male deceased on Highway 101 between Gold Beach and Brookings.

Police say this morning at approximately 10:20 AM, a report was received of a deceased male on Highway 101 near milepost 349 near the Whale's Head Beach Resort.

The unidentified victim was seen by a Curry County Sheriff's Office deputy pushing a shopping cart in the area about 20 minutes earlier.

Roadway evidence indicates the victim was hit by an unknown southbound vehicle that may have front damage.

The involved vehicle may be traveling on Highway 101, Highway 199, or secondary coastal roads in southern Oregon or northern California.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Oregon State Police Southern Command Center dispatch at (541) 776-6111.

No other information available for release at this time. Police and area emergency responders are on scene investigating this incident and travelers may experience slight delays in this area.
