(SALEM) - Salem Fire Department received the call for a structure fire at 2577 Fisher Rd. NE at 1:54 AM on Saturday, December 2nd. Captain Robin Chitwood, who was on the first fire engine that arrived on scene, stated that an orange glow was showing through the front windows of the 2-story single family dwelling. Firefighters aggressively knocked down the fire in the living room area of the home to find that the couch had burned clear through the sub-flooring of the home to the ground. No one was at home at the time of the fire; no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. An estimate of damage to the home and contents is $260,000.
