(SALEM, Ore. ) - Oregon State Police arrested a Dallas-area woman Tuesday after an investigation revealed she allegedly used her ex-employer's stolen business credit card to pay for State Fair expenses and vendor merchandise including beef jerky, teddy bears and furnishings.

OSP troopers working at the Oregon State Fair were contacted by a Dallas electrical company advising someone was using a stolen company credit card to charge in excess of $800 over the weekend to pay for admission, ride tickets and vendor merchandise including jewelry, custom lamps, teddy bears and $85 worth of beef jerky.

The victim business advised that a former employee identified as 34-year-old Karlie G. Nelson, from Dallas, was a suspect.

OSP Trooper Chris Schinnerer conducted the investigation that led to Nelson's arrest Tuesday, for Theft in the First Degree, Forgery in the Second Degree, Identity Theft, and 14 counts of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card.

Nelson was lodged in the Marion County Jail.

The unlawfully purchased merchandise was recovered from Nelson and returned to their respective State Fair vendors.

You poor kids! I really feel for you....feeling like you have to make excuses for your mom's actions. You should take your mom as an example of who you don't want to be. Learn from her mistakes and become better people.

Healthy food at the fair ? That would be like trying to sell pork rinds at Mecca.

The jerky at the fair (from Jerky Hut at least) is excellent, but iy is 20-30 dollars per 1lb bag which is why I just sample and never buy. $85 will really only buy a few lbs of jerky and if you like it that will not last long. And for what its worth the jerky is likely the healthiest food you can get at the fair. I wish some vendor would set up a booth where for 50 cents you can get a carrot, 25 cents a stalk of cellery, a nickel per radish etc... you know... food that does not kill you. Maybe someday (sigh)

I'd say it's definitely a sneer, no question. The book is already in the air. If it was an N.H.L. game she'd be ejected for gross misconduct, there it is! I guess there's just one more thing, why beef jerky? I've been thinking about it all day.

Neal Feldman August 29, 2007 10:55 pm (Pacific time)

No, clearly a smirk.

Vic August 29, 2007 2:20 pm (Pacific time)

It's not a smirk, her mouth is shrivelled up from all the sodium in that beef jerky.

Neal Feldman August 29, 2007 10:09 am (Pacific time)

Well I hope her little spree nets het 2 to 5 years behind bars insead of the wrist slap her smirk seems to suggest she expects.
