(ALBANY) - Linn County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the murder of a Lebanon man whose body was discovered Monday evening. On July 30, at approximately 6:15 pm, Keith and Sharon Klavano, of Lebanon, reported to the Sheriff's Office they had found the body of their son, Wayne Keith Klavano, age 48, at his campsite located in a remote area off of the Upper Soda Fork Road about 10 miles north of Highway 20. Wayne Klavano had a scheduled appointment in Lebanon at 4:30 pm that afternoon and when he did not arrive his parents became concerned and went to his campsite to check on him. Linn County Sheriff's Office personnel responded to the area and determined Mr. Klavano had been killed by homicidal violence (no further details regarding the cause of death are being released at this time). Linn County detectives spent Tuesday, Wednesday, and today processing the scene for evidence. Mr. Klavano was an avid outdoorsman who spent a considerable amount of time camping in the Cascade Mountain Range of Eastern Linn County making his living as a trapper. Detectives are continuing to investigate the case and have developed significant leads and do not believe there is a threat to the general public. No further information regarding the case is being released at this time. Anyone with any information regarding this case is encouraged to contact the Linn County Sheriff's Office at (541) 967-3950.
