Gresham Man Faces 20 Sex Offense Counts out of Deschutes County

Detectives say the alleged abuse occurred when the victim was between the age of 9 and 12.

(GRESHAM, Ore.) - A Gresham-area man was arrested Monday on 20 felony sex offense counts based on warrants issued in Deschutes County. The charges are related to an Oregon State Police investigation into allegations the suspect sexually abused a male relative during a three year period when they lived in the Redmond area.

OSP says they arrested 22-year old Travis Benjamin Amonson at his Gresham area apartment yesterday just before 1:00 PM and lodged him in the Multnomah County Justice Center.

His bail is set at $500,000 pending an appearance in Deschutes County Circuit Court. An OSP investigation that started February 20, 2008 led to Amonson being indicted by a Deschutes County Grand Jury.

He is charged with 4 counts of Sodomy in the First Degree, 4 counts of of Incest, 8 counts of Sex Abuse in the First Degree, 2 counts of Unlawful Sexual Penetration in the First Degree and 2 counts of Unlawful Sexual Penetration in the Second Degree.

Detectives say the alleged abuse occurred when the victim was between the age of 9 and 12.
