(WASHINGTON D.C.) -
Attorney General Eric Holder says $499,978 in Recovery Act funds was awarded to an Oregon organization by the Office on Violence Against Women Recovery Act Transitional Housing Program.
The funds are being awarded to the Klamath Crisis Center in Klamath County.

Three Cougar Sightings Reported in Klamath Falls Neighborhood

The sightings were in the Keno-area, southwest of town.
(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) -
Oregon state officials have received information of three cougar sightings during the last three days in a Keno area neighborhood southwest of Klamath Falls.
Sergeant Robert Fenner with Oregon State Police, says investigators confirmed the first reported sighting of a cougar on August 24th 2009, near 10740 Misty Mountain Drive in Keno.

Klamath County Deputy`s Patrol Car Struck at Highway 97 Detour

The no-injury crash was investigated by the Oregon State Police.
(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) -
A Klamath County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle was struck by a commercial vehicle trailer Sunday afternoon while parked assisting at the scene of a previous traffic crash.
Sunday around 12:50 p.m. a KCSO Ford Crown Victoria patrol car was parked with its emergency lights activated on Highway 97 facing north just south of Algoma Road.

Six People Injured in Single Vehicle Crash Near Klamath Falls (PHOTOS)

Oregon State Police troopers say speed and alcohol are suspected to be contributing factors in the crash.
(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) -
A Klamath Falls woman was seriously injured and several other people were also hurt in a single vehicle rollover crash that happened today just after 3:00 p.m. on Highway 66.
Oregon State Police Sgt. Robert Fenner says the crash happened when a 1996 Ford Explorer driven by 23-year old Melissa Green of Klamath Falls, was westbound on Highway 66 near milepost 44, about six miles west of Keno, Oregon.

Oregon Couple Dies on Highway 97 After Clipping Semi Truck Trailer (PHOTOS)

The impact of the crash actually tore the trailer's rear dual wheels off.
(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) -
Police say a Keno-area couple were killed Tuesday morning on Highway 97 south of Klamath Falls in a collision between a commercial vehicle and sport utility vehicle.
Oregon State Police Lieutenant Steve Nork says the crash happened today at approximately 11:12 a.m. as a 2004 Ford Explorer four-door driven by 65-year old Barbara Leona Boice of Keno, Oregon was southbound on Highway 97 near milepost 282. Nork says that for an unknown reason, the vehicle traveled across the paved center median area in front of the Midland Rest Area and crashed into the rear dual wheels of a semi-trailer.
Nork says the impact of the crash actually tore the trailer's rear dual wheels off.

Police Say Woman Fell Asleep at the Wheel Before Serious Injury Crash

State Police say a Klamath Falls woman received non-life threatening injuries Wednesday afternoon when she crashed after reportedly falling asleep at the wheel.
The driver lost control of her sport utility vehicle while on Highway 140 just after noon, near Fish Lake in southern Oregon.

State troopers say two people were seriously injured Thursday afternoon at approximately 5:20 PM in a two vehicle crash on Highway 140W about thirty miles west of Klamath Falls near Lake of the Woods.
According to Oregon State Police Sergeant Robert Fenner, a 2000 Toyota 4 Runner driven by 30-year old Jerimiah Paladino of Medford, was westbound on Highway 140W near milepost 36 when it lost control on an icy spot on the roadway and slid into the eastbound lane.

Man Seriously Injured in Crash with Commercial Trucks

(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) -
A Klamath Falls-area man was seriously injured and his 6-year old daughter received minor injuries Wednesday night when their pickup was struck by two commercial trucks on Highway 97 in Klamath Falls.
Following over two hours of extrication efforts by firefighters, the seriously injured man was removed from his pickup. The highway was closed over 5 hours because of the crash and rescue efforts.

Two Arrested Stolen Car Suspects Possibly Tied to Eight Vehicle Thefts in Oregon & Washington in One Week.

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers arrested two people west of Klamath Falls Tuesday afternoon who they say may be responsible for the theft of eight vehicles during a one-week period in Oregon and Washington.
OSP Senior Trooper Ryan Niehus says that at 3:40 PM on January 22nd, OSP troopers were set up to intercept and stop a stolen Honda passenger car eastbound on Highway 140W.

Missing Snowmobiler Located Safely (NEW PHOTOS)

The rider was dehydrated and cold but refused transport to the hospital.
(CRESCENT, Ore.) -
A man who took a snowmobile out for a ride last night near Crescent, Oregon and never returned, 65-year old Robert Plumb, was located safely today by a search and rescue helicopter. Plumb was located at 12:37 P.M. by an aircraft out of Jackson County, approximately 20 miles East of Crescent.
Tim Evinger with the Klamath County Sheriff's Office says Plumb is in remarkably good shape considering his ordeal during the past 24 hours with temperatures overnight dipping below zero.
