Sunday, at about 12:30 PM, neighborhood children who were playing hide and seek discovered the body of Quentin Alexander Thacker in a large vacant lot at the intersection of 9th and C Streets in Lebanon. His bicycle was found nearby. Sheriff Tim Mueller says his deputies served a search warrant this morning over a complaint of animal neglect at a residence located at 34336 East Lacomb Road, approximately 10 northeast of Lebanon. Investigators who responded to the residence reported that some of the dogs were living outside in standing water with inadequate or no shelter. Others were chained to trees and other objects. Crews from seven fire districts battled the blaze at the old Champion mill near the Santiam Highway and Market Street into the morning hours Friday. The first call came in just after 11:00 AM, and Lebanon fire investigators said the blaze apparently broke out on the third floor of the complex and quickly spread. An investigation into the cause of the fire in underway.
