Young Women Posting Sexy Photos on Social Media in No-Win Situation

Girls and young women who post sexy or revealing photos on social media sites such as Facebook are viewed by their female peers as less physically and socially attractive and less competent to perform tasks, a new study from Oregon State University indicates.

“This is a clear indictment of sexy social media photos,” said researcher Elizabeth Daniels, an assistant professor of psychology who studies the effect of media on girls’ body image. Daniels’ findings are based on an experiment she conducted using a fictitious Facebook profile.

The grieving mother says Clayton County police in Georgia used a feature which she wasn’t aware of to inform her of her son’s death.

Kony's Invisible Christian Fanaticism

There is no doubt that the video 'Kony 2012' by the advocacy group Invisible Children has raised much awareness of the under-reported atrocities committed by the Ugandan rebel group the LRA.

It is also true that the video, which boasts of over 80 million views on YouTube so far, has been subjected to much - I think fair – scrutiny.

Social Networking Goes Viral

The election of Barack Obama ushered in the use of political networking that hadn't been seen before.

Amazingly, the message failed to register in the minds of the Republican candidates now vying for votes as nominees. Instead of recognizing the potential that the Obama campaign exploited, Republican contenders have been raising huge capital contributions to support traditional speaking engagements and TV ads.

Privacy has become a major issue in the United States and Congress is paying attention. H.R. 1895, "H.R. 1895: Do Not Track Kids Act of 2011"", a bi-partisan bill sponsored by U.S. Representatives Ed Markey (D. MA) and Joe Barton (D. TX), is pending in Congress.
