Police say it happened at Highway 99E near Vineyard Road.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Police say an adult female pedestrian was critically injured Wednesday evening when struck by a car while attempting to cross Highway 99E near Vineyard Road last night at 7:33 PM. 37-year old Jeana Fay Cureton of Milwaukie has been identified as the person who was struck.

Police say they are in touch with her family.

Oregon State Police worked with Oregon Health Sciences University to positively identify the critically injured woman.

Oregon State Police Recruit Trooper Tracy Clark, says a 1993 Plymouth Sundance two-door driven by 36-year old Nathalia P. Mabbott of Milwaukie, was northbound on Highway 99E near Vineyard Road when it struck Ms. Cureton who was pushing a shopping cart filled with wood and personal items from the west to the east side of the highway.

The collision was not in a marked crosswalk, police say. Ms. Cureton was critically injured and transported to Oregon Health Sciences University.

Mabbott was not injured. Highway 99E northbound was closed for an hour during the on-scene investigation. OSP troopers from the Portland Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Clackamas County Fire District #1 and AMR ambulance assisted.
