Police in Oregon emphasize the need for drivers to slow down in bad weather conditions.
(WALTON, Ore.) - Police say an adult and two children were seriously injured Tuesday afternoon when losing control and striking a tree along Highway 126W near Walton.
Oregon State Police Trooper Clay Core, says at approximately 1:30 PM, a 1991 Eagle two-door driven by 28-year old Kathleen S. Vining of Mapleton, was eastbound on Highway 126W near milepost 32 when it lost control on a patch of ice, left the highway and crashed into a tree.
Vining and two passengers, a 9-year old boy and 5-year old girl, were seriously injured. Vining was transported by LifeFlight to Sacred Heart Hospital at RiverBend.
She and the children were using appropriate safety restraints.
OSP troopers from the Springfield Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Lane County Sheriff's Office, West Lane Fire Department and ODOT assisted.
