Bank robberies in Oregon appear to be on the increase as the state economy worsens.
(CORVALLIS, Ore.) - Police in Corvallis say a female entered the Key Bank on 1817 NW 9th Street Tuesday at 4:50 PM, approached a teller, provided her with a note demanding money, then fled the business to the north east on foot after receiving an undisclosed amount of money.
Lt. Dave Henslee with Corvallis Police, says the suspect is described as a white female in her late 20's or early 30's, approximately 5'04" to 5'06" tall, with a medium to heavy build.
"The suspect was wearing a dark colored base ball cap with a light colored bill, a dark colored zip-up jacket with a red shirt underneath. No weapons were seen and no one was hurt during the incident."
Henslee says detectives from the Corvallis Police Department arrived on scene within minutes and began investigating the crime.
"Anyone in the area during the time of the crime that noticed someone matching the description, or witnessed anyone acting out of the ordinary, out of place, changing clothing outdoors, hiding, driving erratically, or suspicious is asked to contact Corvallis Police Detective Tyson Poole at (541) 766-6924," Henslee said.
