Salem-News.com premiers the new comic strip series Benny & Sid's Your Public Service Announcements (#1) and retires Nota Bene
(Salem) - Just at the crest of its popularity Salem-News.com's ever-popular comic strip Nota Bene by Leonard ceases following it's one-hundredth issue.
To find out more about the how and why of this historic event, please read the following interview with the creator of Nota Bene, Leonardo of Salem.
Salem-News: So let's get straight to the point, Leonardo. What went wrong? Why can't Nota Bene continue?
Leonardo of Salem: Well, as you know, the material for Nota Bene was gleaned entirely from something called the Multiverse Browser, that is, a device which allowed me to observe and record crude pictures from the infinite variations of our world within parallel universes. Such browsers naturally are not commercially available, and the one I found on eBay was not in the best of conditions. Masking tape just doesn't work as well as duct tape.
SN: So you're saying it's a technical issue?
LoS: I can't get it or my printer to work. Could be sun-spots. Could be that realities have merged. Could be that Republicans are on their way out. Hard to say.
SN: We are in the waning days of the Bush administration.
LoS: Hallelujah!
SN: Who do you think will be the next president?
LoS: Depends on which Earth-variation you're looking at.
SN: What about our Earth?
LoS: If the Democrats lose this one, we're probably going to have to find a new planet to live on--one in which they've faced global warming and solved the problem. I could sell real estate there and make a fortune.
SN: Tell us about your replacement feature.
LoS: Well, they're like two guys, you know? They hacked into the digital billboards in Salem (ED: as revealed in Nota Bene #100) and rather than try to keep them out, they were hired to run public service announcements.
SN: Do you know them?
LoS: We've never met, but don't expect much. Amateurs.
SN: Do you think that Nota Bene will ever return?
LoS: Definitely, but maybe not in this Earth variation. In other Earths it won't.
