The video was shot by the driver of the motorcycle while speeding through the Interstate 5 Eugene-Springfield construction zone.
(EUGENE, Ore. ) - An Oregon man who claims he broke the "I-5 speed record" on his 2007 Honda CBR motorcycle back in April has now posted the event on YouTube (watch below).
37-year old Ben Howard Kelly, from Eugene, was caught and arrested by Oregon State Police after his high-speed ride.
Court records show that Kelley pleaded guilty to careless driving and recklessly endangering another person by operation of a motor vehicle. He was sentenced to 18 months probation and was fined $1,317.
Police say the video shows compelling images of the motorcycle being operated in a dangerous, reckless manner through the Interstate 5 Eugene-Springfield highway construction zone at a high rate of speed.
Kelly continued recklessly northbound on his motorcycle with speeds documented up to 164 MPH, verified on the video, before troopers caught up with him and pulled him over.
It's one for the record books, absolutely. And a fairly costly one for Kelly.
