The 16-year old male who reportedly attempted to help with the rescue effort and was reported missing by a family member has not been found.
(GLENEDEN BEACH, Ore.) - An 11-year old boy from the Westfir, located just west of Oakridge, is identified as one of two victims who died after he was pulled from the heavy surf Saturday afternoon at Gleneden Beach.
Around 1:15 PM, the group accompanying the 11-year old noticed he was having trouble in the surf.
Lt. Gregg Hastings with Oregon State Police says an adult male and two 15-year old boys went into the heavy surf to rescue him, but all three reportedly had trouble also and had to return to shore.
11-year old River Jenison died Saturday at Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital following extensive lifesaving efforts by medical personnel.
