Man Arrested in Salem Stabbing Incident

(SALEM, Ore.) - Just before 4:00 AM this morning, the Marion Co Sheriff's Office responded to an altercation that occurred on Center Street near Tierra Drive NE, Salem.

Investigators say a male victim, 32-year old Jose Antonio Pena-Gamez of Salem, had suffered a stab wound to his lower left chest and lung area.

Pena-Gamez was transported to the Salem Memorial Hospital and underwent surgery from the wound. Mr. Pena-Gamez will be recuperating at the Salem Memorial Hospital.

Marion County Detectives Tyler Chapman & Michael Bell did an outstanding job in identifying, locating and arresting the suspect in connection to this stabbing.

20-year old, Shawn James McNeil, of Salem, was located and arrested without incident at a residence in Southeast Salem. Mr. McNeil was lodged at the Marion County Jail on charges of Attempted Murder, Assault in the First Degree, Unlawful use of a Weapon & PCS Methamphetamine.
