The event takes place all day Saturday, December 15th 2007 from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - This year marks the sixth annual Oregon Medical Cannabis Awards(OMCA) - the only event of its kind in the United States. The event is open to the public with a full day of vending and educational programs to be held at the Ambridge Center in downtown Portland. It will be open all day Saturday, December 15th 2007 from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM.

Medical marijuana growers submit their strains to a panel of medical marijuana patients who then judge the strains on medicinal effect and potency, as well as qualities such as taste, aroma, appearance, time of onset and more.

Trophies and prizes are awarded to the top three strains in terms of overall score. Fourth and fifth place strains receive ribbons. Judge's Choice ribbons will be awarded to the top finishers in each judging category.

This festival of vendors includes demonstrations on the subjects of medical marijuana, industrial hemp, and consumer cannabis. The top experts in medical marijuana and drug law reform will be available throughout the day and at our legal panel.

This year’s panel for attorneys covers the Oregon Medical Marijuana Act. Attorneys experienced in medical and legal aspects of cannabis, as well as an experienced representative from the Department of Human Services Oregon Medical Marijuana Program will participate. Keith Stroup, founder of national NORML, will be one of our esteemed panelists. The Oregon State Bar will award 5.0 CLE credits for attorney attendees.

Another highlight this year will be the second sustainable and natural fiber fashion show, scheduled for 11:00 AM. We will showcase local designers and distributors of sustainable, hemp and other natural fiber clothing and accessories.

The awards banquet at 7:00 PM is where trophies are awarded for the top strains of medical cannabis grown and judged by patients. Please feel free to contact Oregon NORML for more information on the message line 503-239-6110. Tickets and information are also available at ornorml.org.
