OSP says excessive speed on wet pavement were contributing factors in the crash.
(DEPOE BAY, Ore. ) - One person was injured and a driver cited for Careless Driving after losing control of the armored truck he was driving and crashing down an embankment Thursday morning on Highway 101 about two miles south of Depoe Bay.
At approximately 8:30 AM, an Oregon Armored Service truck driven by 24-year-old Jose Lorenzana, from Salem, was southbound on Highway 101 near milepost 130 negotiating a curve when it lost control, drove across the northbound lane and went about 50 feet down a steep embankment.
A co-employee passenger, 45-year-old Scott Lester, from Salem, was in the back of the armored vehicle unrestrained and received minor injuries.
Lester was transported by Pacific West ambulance to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport for treatment. Lorenzana was using safety restraints and was not injured.
Oregon State Police troopers from the Newport Area Command office are completing the investigation. Excessive speed on wet pavement were contributing factors.

Lorenzana was cited for Careless Driving. Depoe Bay Fire Department, Lincoln County Road Department, and ODOT assisted at the scene. One lane was closed about 3 hours.
