Portland Man Arrested After Chase and Crash in Eugene

The driver was arrested for driving under the influence.

(EUGENE, Ore.) - An Oregon State Police trooper arrested a Portland-area man Wednesday afternoon after a police chase and crash that left the suspect's car smashed into a tree.

DUII suspect Gregory Bride Around 3:00 PM today, the State Police Northern Command Center dispatch received reckless driving complaints about a vehicle southbound on Interstate 5 from milepost 199.

They say OSP Trooper Jamin Van Meter set up near milepost 191 and observed the car southbound, noting numerous traffic violations, so he attempted to stop it.

He says the car exited at the eastbound Belt Line Road off ramp and attempted to elude him through the Gateway area, until it lost control and crashed into a tree about five miles later on a city street.

The driver, 26-year old Gregory Bride of Portland, was arrested for DUII, Reckless Driving, Felony Attempt to Elude in a Vehicle, and two counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person. Bride was lodged in the Lane County Jail.
