The missing hiker is Kelli Michelle Bryan, a 21-year-old Linfield College student who is working at Olallie Lake Resort for the summer.
(DETROIT, Ore. ) - Just before 3:00 AM this morning, Kelli Michelle Bryan, a 21-year-old Linfield College student who is working at Olallie Lake Resort for the summer, was reported to have not returned from a day hike in the Olallie Lake Scenic Area.
Marion County Sheriff's spokesman Kevin Rau says Bryan had left for a hike at about 8:30 AM Tuesday morning from Ollalie Lake Resort where she works.
A fellow employee hiked the area when she had not returned but was unable to find her.
He was able to get to an area where he had cellular service and called to report her missing.
Kelli Bryan was reported to have been wearing clothing appropriate for a day hike, Rau said.
She had no equipment for overnight and may or may not have taken food and water with her.
The National Weather Service reports that the low temperature in the area would have been between 49 and 55 degrees with overcast and some rain showers.
Marion County Search and Rescue teams were activated and began searching the area once on scene and it was light enough to safely begin searching.
At this hour there are nearly 20 searchers actively searching the dozens of trails and Forest Service roads with others on the way to the area.
The search area is within the Olallie Lake Scenic Area which is just north of the Jefferson Wilderness Area.
