Governor Orders Flags at Half-Staff in Memory of Oregon Soldier

Flags to be lowered Monday, in honor of Private Brett A. Walton.

(SALEM) - Governor Kulongoski has ordered all flags at public institutions to be flown at half-staff on Monday, in memory of Private Brett A. Walton, of Hillsboro.

Walton, 37, died April 9th in Baghdad, Iraq.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division in Fort Carson, Colorado.

“Private Walton had an unsurpassed vision and commitment to serving our country and our state,” said Governor Kulongoski. “He was the ultimate humanitarian who will always be remembered by his community for his love of country, compassionate heart, and dedication to making the world a more peaceful place.”
