Friends have stated the missing man may suffer from dementia at times.

(SWEET HOME) - Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller reports an elderly Sweet Home man who had been missing since Sunday has been found safe this afternoon.

R D White, age 94, was found with his vehicle at approximately 3:30 this afternoon on the Ames Creek 600 line, a logging road in east Linn County.

Mr. White was discovered by a member of the Marion County Search and Rescue Four Wheel Drive team, who had been assisting Linn County deputies in the search effort. The team had 5 members involved in the search.

The man left his home Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM and told his wife he was going to check on some property they own in Lebanon. A family friend had talked to Mr. White later that day and he advised her he was going to meet a friend in the Upper Soda area of east Linn County to go hunting. Mr. White did not return that evening and his wife reported him overdue on Tuesday afternoon.

Mr. White's pickup had blown a tire and he was unable to move the vehicle. He was slightly dehydrated but otherwise in good health. At the time of this release he is being transported to Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital for a medical evaluation.

Deputies began the search that afternoon and spent the night searching the roads in the Upper Soda area looking for Mr. White and his vehicle.

The search continued through Wednesday with an Army National Guard helicopter from Salem and aircraft from the Civil Air Patrol assisting. The search resumed this morning with members of a four wheel drive club from Marion County and deputies driving the roads. This is an extremely large and remote area with hundreds of miles of logging roads.
