One family dog was lost in the blaze.
(SHERIDAN) - A Sheridan family of five are receiving Red Cross support after an overnight fire destroyed their home on SE Sheridan Road.
An observant neighbor woke the head of household shortly after the fire started at around 10:30 PM Saturday night.
The two adults and three children evacuated, but one of the younger residents fell when descending stairs, and she's now in Emanuel Hospital, and is receiving treatment for smoke inhalation. One family dog was lost in the blaze.
A flare-up sent the Sheridan Fire Department back to the scene around 3:00 AM Sunday morning, and the house is completely destroyed.
The Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross met with the head of family where he and the rest of the family are staying, and provided funds via debit card to replace clothing and food when the clients are ready. The five Red Cross volunteers involved stand ready to provide lodging and other support, if and when needed.
All disaster recovery aid is provided free of charge by the Oregon Trail Chapter and the American Red Cross. That aid depends on the work of the volunteers who handle eleven out of every twelve responses, and the donations of generous
