Oregon Guard's Amber Mann Competes in 2nd Annual Military Idol Competition

Rumor has it that Amber can belt out one mean version of the National Anthem.

(ALBANY) - Sergeant Amber Mann, a soldier with the Oregon Army National Guard recently completed the third round of competition for the Military Idol Competition for the Northwest Region.

Based upon the American Idol Concept, this is the first year National Guard and Reserve soldiers can compete against their active duty counterparts.

Amber Mann is a resident of Albany, Oregon.

This is open only to vocalists in amateur status. The competition is conducted for entertainment purposes as part of a Morale Welfare and Recreation Club promotion.

Amber is recently completed Round 3 and continues to move up through the semi-finals. Judges an the audience determine who moves to the semi finals/finals. Audience vote counts as 50% of the determination.

The 1st place contestant from each installation level competition will be included in an Army Wide Military Idol Installations winners' video tape screening and judging by the Military Idol Finals Judges.

These judges will then select the top 12 finalists by scoring the video tape performances using the standard score sheet to be used at all levels of competition.

The top 12 will be sent to Ft. Belvoir, Virginia which be broadcast live on the World Wide Web via Army Knowledge Online on October 28th, 2006.

Military Idol Finals Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.
