25-year old Leonardo Gonzalez has been arrested for the murder of 24-year old Christopher Lampkin.
(SALEM) - An arrest has been made in the disappearance of Salem resident Christopher Markus Lampkin. Police issued an alert on June 21st, seeking information on the location of the 24-year old. His parents say past involvement with meth was probably behind his disappearance.
Police have asked for the public's help in locating Lampkin, and they say that he had been entered into the National Center for Missing Adults, www.theyaremissed.org, which also included a photo of Lampkin.
According to that site, Christopher was last seen at approximately 3:00 PM on Ruge St. in West Salem. He was last seen in a dark green four door sedan.
Christopher is missing under suspicious circumstances and information surfaced that indicated foul play may have been involved. His family described his extended disappearance as highly unusual and they feared the worst.
During the course of the investigation, Salem Police Lt. Jim Anglemier says information was developed that led them to believe Lampkin had been killed in Salem by 25-year old Leonardo Garcia Gonzalez of Salem.
Anglemier says officers caught up with Gonzalez Tuesday, arresting him on the charge of Murder.
Salem Police detectives say they still have more work to do and more people to contact. In the process, they're hoping to gain more information concerning this incident. Anglemier says no further details will be released at this time.
Christopher Lampkin is 5 feet nine inches tall, he weighs 150 pounds, has brown hair and blue eyes, and a tattoo of an Asian symbol on his upper mid back between the shoulder blades. Christopher is also missing an upper tooth.
