(PORTLAND, Ore.) - A driver struck two pedestrians tonight in Portland, killing an adult woman while injuring a second pedestrian.
Detective Mary Wheat with the Portland Police Bureau, says it happened around 7:25 p.m. in the area of Southeast 80th and Foster Road.
"When officers arrived, they found two pedestrians had been struck by a vehicle and one of the pedestrians was dead at the scene. The second pedestrian was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries."
Wheat says the Major Crash Team was called to the scene to investigate this accident.
"They have determined that both pedestrians were crossing Southbound on Foster at 80th Avenue when they were struck by a Chevy Impala."
The driver of the vehicle is cooperating in the investigation, Wheat said, and traffic investigators do not believe the driver was impaired.
